Rainy and cold. A few summers ago, the city of Hamtramck ripped up a large portion of Jos Campau and installed a massive, multimillion dollar catch basin that was promoted as a huge step toward the solution to the problems of flooding basements and flooding streets every time it rains. One of the problems with this “solution”, however, is that not all the new storm drains work. It’s as if they’re not connected to anything whatsoever. This is most evident at the northwest corner of Goodson & Jos Campau, where standing water can be seen resting on top of the storm drain in a gigantic puddle for several days after a rain. I like running in the rain but I’m thinking that these might be the best shoes for running in Hamtramck when it’s raining.
